What people are saying about Tai Chi with JosyD

What I love about Tai Chi is it keeps me moving...

My experience with tai chi began with attending some of the sessions led by Josy in the fall of 2025 at the Tupper Lake library. I'm 72 and hoped tai chi would help with balance and take the place of my daily walks when winter cold, wind or ice kept me indoors. Even though I missed about half the sessions, Josy always made it easy to participate and follow along. I especially appreciated her gentle enthusiasm and her understanding of participant's limitations.

As winter came hard and early this year, I was very grateful for what I'd learned. My back and knees and hips get stiff and uncomfortable when I can't get out for brisk daily walks, and practicing tai chi helped with that as I had hoped. On days I didn't walk, I moved along with one of the YouTube videos. And when I'd just been sitting too long, I got up and just did a few of the movements on my way to the kitchen or to tend the wood stove. After reading disturbing news online, doing some tai chi (especially 'repulse the monkey') loosens up my clenched stomach and helps me to ground and center. I already had some practice of using my breath and meditation to center--tai chi gave me another tool or path.

Josy has been very generous, helping me find the videos I've used, offering free tai chi sessions during the holidays, and sharing Adam Potts' January challenge with those who have attended her sessions. Even though I didn't get to any of the in person sessions, I've been doing the daily 15 minute sessions at home and am very grateful for the help tai chi has been to me this winter and to Josy for introducing me to it.

Really enjoy your laid back style and that each "play" time is different.

There is no right or left, right or wrong. Love it!

So happy my husband likes it, too. It's nice gentle stretching and good for balance. We all need those things!

I had taken  a series of classes years ago and had been looking to do it again.

I enjoy in person classes better than on line, but will try your YouTubes when there is no class.

I have been seeing your offerings in Tupper Lake for a while, but it was too far from Lake Placid.

Thanks for teaching Tai Chi, Josy!

Namaste,

Mary, 71 & Marty, 84

Tai Chi has many benefits! What I like best is how it has helped my balance after my stroke in June 2024. Also using right and left sides of the body helps both sides of the brain activate  and coordinate my body movements. Josy gives clear directions and makes it easy to follow.

I would like to share my experiences since taking the Tai Chi sessions with you: It has helped me with my balance, my strength is so much better also. I used to have borderline high blood pressure, but now it is down, it has helped me with my anxiety too.

Josy's Tai Chi classes are wonderful. She brings experience, expertise, energy, fun, and enthusiasm in all of her classes. Everyone is always made to feel very welcome. It is very evident that Josie continues her professional development as a Tai Chi teacher. She is always adding new movements she learns intertwined seamlessly with the movements we have been doing. She keeps each class interesting and fresh. She plays beautiful music each class which makes the tai chi almost like meditation in movement. The classes have a very good energy and vibe to them without any pressure to perform. You are encouraged to do what you can do. I love how she calls it Tai Chi play. I look forward each week to attending Tai Chi with Josie. I feel like Tupper Lake is very fortunate to have such a dedicated teacher. Tai Chi is an excellent way to help us keep moving and remain active no matter what our age is. It is beneficial and enjoyable for all ages.
